To ski in Bukovel you need a policy from a Ukrainian insurer, because Polish ski insurance does not work in Ukraine, and without a Ukrainian policy you will not get in. A day ski pass in the 2025/26 season costs 1,450–2,550 UAH (approx. 140–250 zł) depending on the date, and the journey from Przemyśl takes 6–8 hours. On the slopes take the Extended plan with an insured sum of €30,000: evacuation from the piste and knee surgery cost more than €3,000.
Why will a Polish ski policy not work in Bukovel?
For two reasons. First, Polish insurers exclude liability in countries for which the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared the "Do not travel" level, and Ukraine has been at that level since 2022. The ski extension from PZU, Warta or Allianz does not change that exclusion. Second, the Ukrainian border guards require a policy from an insurer licensed by the National Bank of Ukraine, so you would have to supplement the Polish policy with a Ukrainian one anyway. What does the Ukrainian policy cover on the slopes?
The EUROINS Ukraine medical policy covers the cost of treating sudden illness and accidents, including during amateur, recreational skiing and snowboarding: consultation, X-ray and tests, dressing or plaster cast, hospitalisation, surgery, ambulance and medical evacuation to a better hospital. The price difference between the plans for a week is about €4.77 per person. On skis there is nothing to think about.

Low season runs until 18 December and from 17 March, high season from 19 December to 16 March. Children under 6 ski free with their parents. The 30% discount for children aged 6–12 is available only to Ukrainian citizens. Buying online in advance is cheaper than at the ticket office. Bukovel has 68 km of pistes and 16 lifts; Slavske and Drahobrat are smaller and cheaper, but with simpler infrastructure and a longer journey.
How do you get from Poland to Bukovel?
- By train to Lviv from Przemyśl (approx. 2 hours), then by train to Ivano-Frankivsk (2.5–3 hours) or directly to Tatariv-Bukovel station (night and day services from Kyiv and Lviv, 5–6 hours from Lviv). From Ivano-Frankivsk it is 100 km to the resort: the Bukovel Bus or a transfer, 2–2.5 hours.
- By car via Korczowa–Krakovets or Medyka–Shehyni, then Lviv, Stryi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Yaremche. From Kraków it is approx. 550 km and 9–12 hours including the queue at the border. - By coach: direct services from Kraków, Rzeszów and Warsaw to Ivano-Frankivsk, 10–14 hours.
Rescue services and nearby hospitals
Bukovel's slopes have their own rescue service, and the resort's medical centre at the bottom station treats simple injuries. More serious cases go to the hospital in Yaremche (25 km) or to Ivano-Frankivsk (100 km), where there are private clinics that work with insurers. After an accident, first call the assistance number on your policy, not your Polish insurer: the EUROINS centre will name a facility and settle with it directly. The whole family on one policy
You can insure up to 10 people on one policy with the same dates and the same plan. Every person, including a child, needs their own passport and their own entry. A week in Bukovel for a family of four on the Extended plan costs €50.63, less than one day ski pass over the holidays.
