Everything travellers from Poland ask

Short and to the point. If your question is not here, write to us, we reply within 15 minutes.

Is insurance necessary?

Yes. Article 7 of the Ukrainian Insurance Act obliges foreign nationals to hold a medical policy valid in Ukraine, issued by an insurer licensed in Ukraine. This also applies to EU citizens and to every border crossing.

No. Polish policies exclude countries under the “do not travel” warning of the MSZ (Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs), and even if they did not, the border accepts Ukrainian insurers only. The EHIC does not apply either: Ukraine is not in the system.

Yes, every person crossing the border, regardless of age, needs their own cover. Add children as fellow travellers on the same policy; the price per person is the same.

If you enter on a Ukrainian passport, no. On a Polish one, yes: the border officer treats you as a foreign national and will ask for a policy. Men aged 18–60 on a Ukrainian passport are subject to martial-law exit restrictions.

Usually not. But you must have valid cover for the whole stay: it is a legal requirement and, above all, it is what pays the hospital if something happens.

Purchase

2–5 minutes after payment. The PDF arrives at the e-mail address you provided and can be downloaded from the confirmation page.

Yes. The form works on a phone and the whole thing takes about 5 minutes. Select today's date as the entry date. On the Polish side you have Polish network coverage; at Shehyni or Krakovets you are already on the Ukrainian network.

As in the machine-readable line of your passport, without diacritics: “Łukasz Żółkiewski” becomes LUKASZ ZOLKIEWSKI. That is how the system at the border reads it.

Yes, up to 10 people. Add each fellow traveller in step 2 with their passport details. Everyone has the same cover and the same dates and is on a single PDF.

Check Spam and, in Gmail, the Promotions tab. Wait a minute and use “Resend code”. If still nothing, write to us with the address you used and we will check straight away.

Scope of cover

Medical costs up to €3,000 (Basic) or €30,000 (Extended): emergency consultations, hospitalisation, surgery, ambulance, emergency dental care, medical evacuation and repatriation. It covers injuries from acts of war (missiles, drones, mines). Radiation risk can be added as an option to either plan.

Yes, in both plans. Injuries from missiles, drones, artillery or mines are treated like any other accident, up to the limit of the chosen plan.

Call the 24-hour assistance number on the policy. They will direct you to a hospital and settle the bill directly. If you pay upfront, e.g. at a pharmacy, keep the receipts for reimbursement.

It covers a sudden flare-up of a chronic condition requiring emergency care. It does not cover planned treatment or check-ups for conditions already diagnosed.

Sudden illness and accidents, including during amateur skiing, fall within the medical cover. Competitive and professional sport is not covered. For skiing we recommend the Extended plan because of the cost of evacuation and surgery.

Payment and refunds

By Visa or Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay through the WayForPay gateway. Charged in euros. We do not store card details.

Yes, if you ask before the cover start date. Write to us with the policy number; the refund goes back to the same card within 5–10 working days. Once cover has started, there is no refund.

The policy cannot be changed. If it has not yet started, cancel it for a refund and buy a new one with the correct dates.

The PDF policy serves as proof of payment. If your company needs a separate document, write to us.
